"DOORS TO THE BAY SUNRISE, were an inspiration that occurred to me one early morning in January of 2006. I walked out to the front yard of my home to retrieve my newspaper. I just happened to look toward the eastern sky and was in awe of the beautiful, bright pinks and blue hues that seemed to be coming alive as the sun began to rise above the horizon. The sight beckoned to me in a very strong urge to touch and completely become one with the moment. I jumped in my car with camera in hand and drove ten blocks or so, that I had to drive to reach Ocean Drive. I took pictures at every angle and site. After taking about 100 photos, I returned home and loaded the photos into my computer and spent the next five or six hours manipulating, cropping, and intensifying the doors I had captured with the photos. I used the feelings of my heart and soul to select each and every one that I felt would become one of my "DOORS TO THE BAY SUNRISE." I repeated this amazing experience once or twice a week for the next three months, accumulating many wonderful ideas and creations that would provide me with material for the ten "DOORS TO THE BAY SUNRISE" now on display for this show. I chose to paint these paintins on hollow core doors because they presented the perfect size for my creations. As Hans Hoffman has said, 'To sense the invisible and to be able to create it - that is art'.. So please, as you view the exhibit, allow yourself to open the doors and join me inside this amazing experience." - Ron Stephenson
